Flag of Comoros
Comoros Islands are situated between Madagascar and Africa. Their current flag has been adopted in 2001 after series of changes. The flag had three variants from 1978 to 2001, though all of them consisted of green leaf, white crescent and four white five-pointed stars in different variations. Today's version is enriched by four horizontal stripes in yellow, white, red and blue colors. Traditional symbols of Islam - a crescent and stars are now located in the green wedge on the left side of the flag. Each stripe as well as four stars represent four main islands of Comoros - Mohéli, Mayotte, Anjouan and Grande Comore. Mayotte has an official status of the French overseas territory, however, Comors Island do not recognize it.
