Flag of Malaysia
The flag of Malaysia is very similar to the flag of the United States. Fourteen stripes of white and red color indicate 13 countries of the federation and a territory of the capital. The official name of the flag from 1997 could be translated as "Famous stripes". The yellow star has also fourteen points and it is placed on a blue field in the upper left part of the flag together with a yellow crescent. Crescent and star are traditional symbols of Islam, blue refers to the membership of the British Commonwealth and the red and white are considered traditional colors of Southeast Asian Malagasy nations. Yellow is the color of sultans who rule the nine states of the Malaysian federation.
